I saw them at Stew Mac. Sometimes I leave the carbon fiber rods a hair proud, over the top of the slot, then sand them down. I'm not sure that would work with titanium. I'm getting ready to order two rods for a 34" scale and am wondering which to use.

Pretty sure trying to sand titanium will make you sad.

Why not just sneak up on the truss rod slot until it is flush?

I have finer control with the sandpaper than the router. But your idea would be better for the titanium.
I have also just glued a strip of wood on top of the rod, which is easy to sand down. But that requires a little more neck depth.

Even with regular steel truss rods, I like to deepen the slot just enough to glue a thin piece of wood (usually some spare binding) on top of the truss rod, then plane/scrape that piece flush with the neck. I feel like this gives the tightest fit, and the slot only has to be a tiny bit deeper to accommodate the thin piece of wood. Well worth it, in my view. Trying to get the depth of the slot exactly perfect is a hassle.

These are handy for getting your router bit depth dialled in. I use mine pretty much every time I use a router bit.
