I have a crack in my guitar top about 1/4" long and it's cross grain. I used ca glue and sawdust to try to hide it but I can't get rid of the black line. Any ideas how to hide it. Its austrailian blackwood so the black line really sticks out. I also took a razor blade and just cut the line out a little and tried to fill it with saw dust and shellac. It made it better but still a dark line. Think I could try to match a dye or stain and try to stain the line?

If it really bugs you, try to find a professional furniture touch up person to fill and retouch the area.

Mohawk makes blendall powders which can be mixed and blended to make just about any color, combined with lacquer, and used to hide imperfections in the wood.

One way to make the crack less visible is to fill short sections with different color fill materials. This has the effect of "breaking the line" and your eye will be less drawn to it.
Cross grain scratches and cracks are some of the most difficult things to hide.
