I have seen a magnetic thickness gauge that it is rather cheap to be made.... here is a video of its assembly and how it works http://www.luth.org/images/web_extras/al109/Doolin_01.mp4 does someone know how to make this thing? or have the american luthiery 109 issue so as to give as dimensions and instructions?thansk alot!

i have contacted them but i live in Greece and it will take around a month or so to come here....also they also dont give out pdfs ....any ideas? thanks alot for your reply SteveSmith...really appreciate it!

I'm on Tapatalk so didn't see your location. I do remember discussions about several folks wanting such a device, basically a home-made Hacklinger gauge. Unfortunately I don't have any additional information. Good luck with your search.
