Trying something new. I had couple of wormholes in my sides. Before bending, I decided to epoxy with dust. Anybody done that before?

The epoxy will soften with heat. CA and dust would be better.

Not sure about epoxy, but from a quick search, it looks as if heat resistance depends on the epoxy.

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

why not fill after you bend?

Take special care if there are any worm tunnels, especially if they run across the grain. They can cause a kink in the bend.

Mike I've filled worm holes with epoxy and dust prior to bending with no issues. The ep*xy that I used back then was the Pacer line, makers of Z-Poxy and it worked great. IIRC I used their 30 minute stuff.

There used to be a toot on filling worm hole on Allied's site and that's what I learned from.

It worked ok. Still have to do some touch up work. Won't try it again though.
