I am looking for plain opaque solid blue dots for position markers. Probably eventually I can find a plastic rod to cut up, but maybe there is a source. I do not want pearl, because I want sky blue without pattern. Plastic, reconstituted stone, whatever.

Thanks.

You could try whipper snipper line. Finding the right colour might be easier than a diameter than fits a common drill bit, though, unless you have or buy the micro bits.

Someone else gets the SMART, Tom! I'll only take credit for remembering it, although I can't remember who suggested it! I couldn't drill a proper hole for my blue line, but then I saw the coil of 1/16" copper grounding wire hanging from a nail. Heapo cheapo position markers!

I also use Weedeater line for side dots.

I could not function without a set of number drills.

Whipper snipper??? I think I just had my Canadian vocabulary expanded. I'm guessing that would that be the same as a weed whacker?

Just doing my bit for cross-border integration, Jay! We use weed whacked here too!

I have been using fluorescent acrylic powders used in the finger nail paint biz. I bought a color set on eBay for cheap. Thus far I've used it only for side position markers (2mm) - drill a clean hole, fill with powder, soak with thin CA. It looks like a rod, color is solid (drill 3/32" to 1/8" deep for depth of color), sand and finish like with any CA fill. My test board with different colors has been glowing for 3 years now. One of the advantages of powder is that you can constitute it into whatever size you wish. Cheap, too. With a decent color set, I can match color details on a guitar.

Here's an example of the product: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1PC-10-Colors-Phosphorescent-FLUORESCENT-Powder-Glow-In-Dark-Nail-Art-Acrylic-/131350266246

Yes, Tom, looks like we are going to be a "green" country! I think that I'll invest heavily in the snack market! ;)

Another option might be the colored PLA filament used for 3D printing. It's very similar to trimmer line and is available in a variety of colors.

I think the 3D printer would be good for side dots, but I am also looking for front dots, which are larger. I contacted Rescue Pearl and I ordered the fluorescent powder. We will see where it gets me.

I make my own face and side dots with polymer clay. I drilled the appropriate sized holes into a piece of aluminum angle, fill the holes with clay, and bake.

The nice thing about this is that you can mix up any color you want. I use Sculpey brand clay.
