Hi everyone. I am really happy to be at a point in my career where I can help sponsor the OLF. This forum has always been my favorite luthier oriented site. It helped me a good bit when I transitioned from furniture to guitars.

A lot of you may know me from my posts here on the forum but I bet there are more than a few of you who didn't realize that in addition to building and restoring I run a custom finishing program dedicated specifically to guitars and other string instruments. I do work for small builders, guitar shops and individuals around the country. I offer a variety of quality finishes at reasonable prices and strive to keep turnaround times as short as can be. I can even help out with fully insured round trip shipping if needed.

I would also like to offer to all members of the OLF a 5% discount on their first finish. Simply PM me here.

Here is copy of my brochure on my service and the types of finishes I regularly offer. Click on it to see a version that you can enlarge to read better.

Here is my current pricing structure.

Clear finishes available in the following types;
 Conversion varnish - $400. A tough modern poly designed especially for wood, very thin film builds.
 Nitrocellulose Lacquer - $435. Traditional guitar finish as used by Martin, Gibson, etc.
 Epoxy Urethane - $450. Tough poly type finish. Best choice for metallics.
 French polish - $575. Traditional hand applied shellac finish. Incredibly thin and acoustically transparent.
All finishes are buffed, full gloss with a complete pore fill. For options on satin or unfilled finishes please call.

Options for finishes;
 Body only, deduct $100
 Single shade or burst on top only add $75
 Each additional color on burst top add $35
 Burst entire guitar with single tone add $150
 Stain neck to match body add $40
 Stain or shade entire guitar add $110
 French polish top only add $125
 Solid colors, non metallic add $110, Call for pricing on metallic finishes.
 Satin finish on neck no charge if necks are unattached, Add $25 if attached.
Many other options exist for custom finishes, this is a list of the most popular options. If you don’t see what you are looking for or are not sure please call.

Professional discount available for those who send 3 instruments at a time or 6 guitars per calendar year, call for details.

Yes, stripping of old finish is done at regular shop rates and you can figure an extra $100 on average. Thanks Hesh.

Way to go, Brian. Good luck. I have a friend who was asking me about finding a finisher....I'll tell him about you.
