Nice! Use it sparingly Pat. They do get dull which would be ok if you lived close to where they sharpen them. I usually just use mine for special occasions. Mine needed sharpening out of the box and is due again. It has cut a fair bit of wood.

Did you get the saw to go with it?

I have the same blade on my Laguna SUV. Works like a champ! I fortunaly seem to have received one of the sharp ones.

Me too. My Laguna is pretty much the straight cut saw now, braces, necks, etc. the only thing I still use the tablesaw for now is dadoing truss rod slots and x brace lap joints.

Well, I hope it doesn't dull toooo fast. That's why I went for carbide. How many sets of exotics do you think I could cut on one sharpening? (Probably only $5 to send it in.)

Yes it's a Ryobi BS-360NR. It's quite the little beast! I've been running a 3/4" Timberwolf that it came with a little, but I've been waiting for the carbide to slice a bunch of rosewood/ebony that's been sitting around a long time.

How do even fold a blade like that up? I'd love to see a pic of it in the saw.

It was tricky, but not too bad. And it comes with a plastic blade guard I'll try to get some pix when I'm back in town.

Just got all dialed in and took it for a test drive. I sliced one side billet of very dense rosewood. Started at 1" and got 7 slices of cheese @ .09 +/- .005 without jointing in between. (the last piece was .125) The board did have slight bow from end to end, but I just started cutting on the convex side and it worked great.

The cut is very smooth. Nowhere near glue ready though like I've heard some say. At least not luthier glue ready. But, prob less than .005 to sand off.

This is one of the first 3" Resaw Kings and it worked good. About a .06" kerf, no drift that I could tell.

Anyone notice my green eyes....?? Congrats Pat, fine looking compact machine, looks like it does a super job from the surface on that beautiful wood. The blade guide also caught my eye............quite nice.

Thanks! Yes, it's compact and very stout. The guides are just 8 pieces of phenolic.
Thanks, yes, it's one of the Asians, not sure which, but their properties are about the same. Very hard and dense like African Blackwood. I've bent sides at around .07 and backs ended up about .08. Awesome tap tone and abrasion resistance is off the charts. It also is very stable once in service.
I had been looking for a resaw for a long time. I saw this one on craigslist, never having heard of them before, I did some research and was at the guys doorstep in about 20 minutes. They don't sell the BS-360NR in this market anymore. Makita and Hitachi also make similar. Probably too high production cost (2k in '85) for a one trick pony. However, it does that trick very well!

Speak of the devil there is a Hitachi resaw that just popped up on my local Craig's List that I am giving strong consideration too. Model CB75 F with an upgraded 3HP motor.

Hmmm.... just because you *can* slice stuff at 0.09" doesn't mean you *should* slice that thin. In the for what it's worth department, it is very difficult to edge-join wood that thin and have the joint be straight and true and not lose more wood trying to sand it flat afterward. Now I've admittedly never used one of these fine saws, but I have used Resaw King blades to slice a bunch of expensive wood, as well as WoodMaster CT and Aluminum Master blades, and for rosewood typically the RK performed the least satisfactorily. They rock in Mahogany though..!
AS soon as it dulls a bit, you're going to find that it won't cut as perfectly and you will be risking some very expensive wood. Better to go with less really good slices than more really thin ones, especially if there's a problem with the cut.
Just the humble advice from a guy who has resawn a few hundred sets of wood, if you want it.

Now I pretty much want to saw everything in sight!

I have one Ryobi resaw 75, just like that. You can put a 10mm blade on it and it will work like a great saw for curvy things You need the small blade guides though. For resaw I use the Resaw King and I also have some Ryobi blades. To tell the truth the 1/2 inch meat cutting blades work just as well and are essentially disposable but a lot cheaper.

I swapped out my 3" Stellite on my Hitachi years ago, just because there were more 1" blades available, and cheaper. Of course, my current blade is not that cheap, and to get there wasn't cheap either - first purchase Hitachi conversion kit, then get the Carter part to bolt on. In hindsight, I'd do it exactly the same again. Still need to purchase the lower Carter bearings, but this is what it does to Kou (which is very hard, like Milo, definitely harder than Koa):

Wow, I never seen those kind of bandsaw. I always thought this size of blades could be mount only on very large and big bandsaw that a little workshop like mine could not afford.
A quick search on the web for those bandsaw get only links in the U.S.
Someone know if it is sold in Europe ?
