I have a buzz that for the life of me I cannot figure out. It ONLY happens when the low E is fretted on the 7th fret (B) and the D string is played open (D). If I play the same B note at a different fret location, it doesn't happen. So when I play this certain combo, the open D makes a metalic buzzing sound. I have checked all the hardware and it is all tight. I have tried muting all other strings, checked the nut and saddle and the truss rod is tight. There are also no high frets in play. So.... what else could it be. It seems to be very specific and has something to do with this exact combo resonating the entire guitar in a certain way. It is very odd. Any help would be appreciated. Is it the frequency or the location? Is it the same fret if the guitar is tuned up or down?

Sounds like a back buzz. Try muting the strings between the fretted notes and the nut.

That'll be a back buzz. The E string between the nut and 6th is about an octave above the open D. Can be fixed by raising the E in its nut slot or using a little more neck relief, or going the other way and using less relief so that the string lays harder on the frets between nut and 6th and stops buzzing.

I worked on a Taylor with this exact issue yesterday. Raising the bass E string's nut slot solved the problem.
