Here are the three rosettes that go with my three butts presented previously. I made the rosettes in a similar fashion by placing my tiles in differing arrangements on each guitar. The ambrosia maple guitar has a red cedar top. At least with the close up shots it's easy to see the tiles; also easy to see the flaws.

Both of these are all wood rosettes. Current project. A full maple ring as background. Purfling lines are dyed maple. The first one is waterfall bubinga (courtesy Shane at former HMT), second is Hibdon Coco.

Btw, the inset segments are cut with a version of Chris Paulicks shell jig.

Jason, that last pic is interesting, the rosette part. Is that slivers of a branch or something?

Very cool! Use less shell and look awesome doing it  Those colors look great together.

Wow! Some really cool rosettes.

Peter - I remember seeing some "in progress" photos of your cinnamon stick rosette. I like how it came out.

Here's the one on the guitar I'm building now. Indian rosewood and cocobolo. No finish on it yet so the colors will change some.

Yes, when one of my sons was little, he handed me a stick off our silver maple in the back yard. He said "here dad, you can make a guitar out of my stick". So I did. I just sliced it on a bias to show some of the bark. The guitar is a smaller one for playing around a campfire, and I wanted it to be outdoorsy.

Nice rosettes, I love these kind of threads.
