Hello OLFers,

I haven't posted for a while because I've been away from building most of the past 8 months, after a diagnosis of advanced lung cancer. Treatments are not changing things at this time (though there are some promising new drugs which are very close to approval), so we will be downsizing our house. Though the hardest thing for me to let go of will be my new workshop, I don't know that I can physically do the building any more as I'm not walking without assistance.

I wanted to say how thankful I am to Lance for this forum, and to the many generous and talented builder "friends" that I've made over the past several years. This is a great group of people and it's been so much fun geeking out over lutherie with you!

I am not going to sell all my tools/equipment right off the bat unless things deteriorate quickly for me (just in case there's a bit of a chance of ever building in the future), but will be listing all my tone wood, and some tools, jigs, books/magazines in the classifieds. I will also have a thread with pictures of our property and workshop in case any of you are looking to relocate to beautiful Tucson AZ with a ready-made, fully climate-controlled work shop!

Thanks again to all of you who have helped make this hobby so much fun via tutorials, documented builds, lively discussion of all things fretted, and direct question and answer.

Stay well and keep on helping each other!!! Beth

This is very distressing news. I've enjoyed reading your posts... Even if building is difficult right now, keep checking back to the forum. You are always welcome. Get well soon.

Beth my friend you are in our thoughts too and here is wishing you the very best as well.

Hang in and I know things can look pretty dark at times like these but things can also improve as well and that's my hope for you. You might just be surprised at how many cancer survivors were have around here...

Wishing you the very best my friend.

Beth, I am so sorry to hear that. I had wondered why we were not seeing you around as much. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. Of course, as was said earlier - drop in and hang out when the mood strikes, you still have friends here and valuable experience to contribute.

Oh, Beth, I am so sorry to hear this.
I know almost exactly how you must feel. My wife went through cancer treatments almost 10 years ago. I hope you have family around you to help, pray, and care for you through your ordeal. It certainly changes your whole family and gives everyone a totally different outlook on life. May your treatments be successful and hope it goes into some kind of recession.

As a survivor myself, I will tell you that you can get through this.
My workshop kept me going(when I had the energy)during recovery.
Good Luck and stay positive.

Perhaps you can read suzanne somer's book "knockout" , how she battled and won against cancer, Functional/integtrative medicine physicians have a whole arsenal of highly effective nutraceuticals to help you . Check locally. Check liposomal vitamin c
