I should have dropped 50$ on a dado set from the get go. I can't imagine how many hours I've wasted doing truss rod slots with a normal tablesaw blade and little nudges and tape shims...

Am I missing something? Router bit in a table?

No, a cheap 50$ dado set that cuts the channel in one pass. Should have had this, I dunno, 200 guitars ago?

If you want to avoid doing the truss rod slot with the bit raised for the second pass, ajdust the bit full height, and use a spacer board to raise the neck for the first pass.

Not sure what you mean Alex, what I like about it is doing it in one pass with one simple setup. Can't wait to do a batch of 20!

The spacer raises the neck so that you can cut half the depth, remove the spacer, and finish the cut to full depth. If you don't have a table saw or a dado blade, the spacer method eliminates having to raise the bit.
A stacked dado blade will make a cleaner cut in the side walls of the dado than a router bit will. A single blade wobble dado set not so clean, and with a slightly rounded bottom.

Volume, or stocking up on milling day. I get it.

For those who don't have a dado set, stacking 7 1/2 inch blades together can also work for relatively narrow dados. Using blades with fewer teeth makes it easier to keep them from touching. Craft paper or thin plastic (pop bottles) can be used for shims to get the perfect width.
For doing curved truss rod slots a router and simple jig is probably still the best option.

That's about all I ever used my table saw for. Always kept the dado and shims in the saw.
