I got my shop fox assembly kit , but having a difficult time locating a 1in pulley with a 1/2in bore , so that I can run my buffer at abt, 860 rpm. Where do you buy a pulley ??? I have 2 motors a sears 1/2hp with the 5/8in shaft and a emerson with a 1/2in shaft . Thanks !

I doubt you will find a pulley that small. The smallest I have seen is a 2"er. If you had a 1" pulley with a 1/2" bore, there would only be a 1/4" on either side of the bore- much too little room for most pulleys, let alone a key way and/or set screw. You may have to change your pulley configuration or consider a slower motor to get to the speed you are wanting.

You can try Tractor Supply. They have a pretty good selection of pulleys.

Doubtful you'll find a 1" pulley with a 1/2" bore --- Mac Master Carr has them (1") with 1/4" bore. It seems you should be able to pick up a 1/3" 1750 motor used for a couple of bucks, very common item. Then you can use the recommended 2" drive pulley.

The manual which came with the shop fox said that the 2in pulley with the 1in would create abt 860 rpm . Thanks everyone .I did find a 1.5in with a 1/2in bore for $6 on amazon . Therefore I will run the 3in pulley on the shop fox aligned with the 1725 rpm 1/3 hp emerson motor mounted with a 1.5in pulley which will give me about 860 rpm . I ordered 2 .12in buffs from caswell including buffing compound which came to abt $60 with fed ex ground vy reasonable. I/m using enduro- var pre-cat urethane waterborne laquer . Seems to lay down vy well and buffed to 4k with micromesh , gives a nice flat finish which I like . But clients demand gloss.
