A three-tier guitar stand, nut drivers, and a new stool.
Also, a keyboard that plays fart sounds.
Merry xmas to all.

Hey John, congrats. she's absolutely gorgeous.
Alex, nice one - I was just up at the Glenfiddich distillery a couple of days ago for a tour (free tasting samples of 12. 15 and 18 year old) with a house guest.
Guitar making wise, I just received some very nice Fuchs Eurospruce tops and bracewood on Xmas eve, after they went walkabout for a few weeks, misdirected in the post. Whew!

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

Ditto. Along with a Galbert drawknife sharpening jig. And Dick Boak's pictorial history of Martin.

It was a good year :-)

Lots of time with my family, and an LMI vaccume work holder, a vaccume bridge clamp, and a ton of tools from Veritas. This should step up my workflow!

Sure sounds like it!

My LMII vacuum work holder is indispensable!

Think that'll make a decent guitar...?

Oh, and thanks to my Santas, Hank and Dave!

Looks like John Mayes gets the Grand Prize! Congrats John!

Ken, looks nice. Be sure to post what happens with the pink stuff :) Sounds like most folks here did very well. I know I did.

I picked up a couple of posters in Nashville last year and my wife snuck em out and had them framed for me. The one from Gruhn's has George's signature on it and is a nice reminder of the opportunity I had to sit and talk with him for a little while (wasn't about guitars). The posters will be going in my shop after I rearrange it. I also got a LN violin makers plane - a very nice upgrade for a similar sized but much wider mouthed, poorly adjustable plane I've been using for a long time.

Those posters are very cool, Steve! And those Veritas mini chisels look sweet, Zac! But yep, John wins the prize hands down!

A John Hall heating blanket, a LMI gift certificate that I redeemed for a vacuum bridge clamp, a pick punch from pickpunch.com, and lots of stocking stuffers.

Please don't show those to my urologist.... he might want some..... :?

I remember a time way back on the OLF where we might have called those very nice rasps "freedom" rasps and not "French" rasps.... :D

It's settled, John Mayes had the best haul this year unless anyone else has produced an apprentice too?

I bought my own Santa gift this year. A worksharp 3000, the wide blade attachment and an extra glass disk with the super fine abrasives. Spent a bit of time setting it up and the sharpened 5 chisels and 2 plane irons in the time I usually spend on a couple chisels and they are as good as I have ever achieved in sharpness.

Glad it got to you ok Ken :)

3 days from pick up in the UK to delivery to you I was amazed how quick the shipping was!

It takes longer to send a letter here to someone 120 miles away lol

My lady was very good to me this year: a Veritas round spokeshave, year membership to GAL, a gift card to buy new bending blanket and radius dish...she's certainly a keeper!

Last year was the big year - full set of Veritas PMV-11 chisels

This year, I got the vacuum-assisted Mirka Abranet sanding block with a full set of pads in the range of sanding grits. I can't wait to use - I'm far too likely to do anywhere from incidental to hardcore sanding in the basement shop without thinking about the dust piling up and getting in everything (including my lungs). A more modest but still very welcome package.
