Love these threads, not seen one for a time.
I've just finished a solera and accessories for my first classical build.
Took a couple of weeks including waiting for carriage bolts I couldn't get locally in the mail, which went walkabout, and then turned out to be the wrong ones.
Turned out OK, and I've just cut my first scarf joint on the bandsaw, hope to glue it up tomorrow.
EIR set and eurospruce soundboard hidden under the no7s behind it.

Double layer 18mm outdoor ply faced with 5 mm reclaimed Honduran mahogany. Fitted with (removable) go-bar deck.

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

Working on my CLM model in Adi and Guatemalan Rosewood. Got to make a rosette for this one I have been wanting to make for a long time.
I'm into the neck this weekend as well as making a big batch of bridge pins, Walrus Ivory and pernambuco! Should be some pretty shavings.

Thanks Robbie and Haans. Coming from you Haans, the Larson purfling master, it means a lot.

Wow there is some inspiring work posted in this thread.

Today I am putting the final coats of Royal-lac on this tenor ukulele. This instrument is my first with Royal lac. The back, sides and neck are filled with Gear-up fill and finish.

I have had great luck with my double side OMs so I got off my butt and made a laminating form for my size 2 model.

It will be interesting to see what it does to the sound on a really little guitar.

I'm kind of at an impasse. I have a baritone Uke walnut back and sides. However, the wife and I are getting on,so having to do a little remodel. Changing the bathroom. Everything new and senior citizen friendly. Walk in shower with seat. So I've basically been overseeing that. I do need to get going. But everything is torn up including my shop. Hopefully soon maybe cross my fingers.

Jimmie, it's "select" (meaning I selected it) grade A red spruce. Here's the whole box...

Chuck, I don't know about "purfling master", but sure am glad to see you doing one and a fine job too! Too many non-traditional instruments round here...

Im building 2 classicals, and this time im trying a new rosette design, cut with laser CNC. So far I think is gonna end up looking nice...
This one has dark Guayubira center with WRC tiles, made out of the sounboard cutouts to match in color. Once all is cut, the asembly is pretty much straight foward.

Edit here´s the raw rosette finished, still have to seal and fill tiny gaps, and then level it. Im gonna try with either titebond or HHG.

The work I'm seeing here is fantastic! Keep it up!

I'm doing the arm and ribrest bevels on a Tasmanian Tiger Myrtle and Alpine Spruce Odalisque. I got the amazing Myrtle from Todd Rose a couple of years ago. Image
Image
I'm also working on an Amazon RW and Lutz OD. I got the beautiful dark Amazon RW from John Arnold a while back. Image
I did a broken headstock repair on a sweet '67 D-28ImageImage
Also made good progress with a student finalizing his neck and getting the first epoxy pore fill coat on his Pau Ferro and Lutz GA.
