Hey Everyone

I wanted to take a moment to share a youtube clip of Marcus Wong featuring his original arrangement of 'Shut Up and Dance' by Walk the Moon.

Full disclosure this is one of my guitars, but I have full faith that he could make a 10 dollar plywood guitar sound incredible. This is certainly not a promotion for the instrument but instead huge praise for the player.

Mark my words he will be among the worlds best fingerstyle players in the years to come. It is pretty incredible the talent that he has with his technical playing. Extremely clean and accurate while still allowing the music to feel organic and powerful. This is his first original arrangement of a song and from my perspective he knocked it out of the park.

Needless to say iam a big fan of his playing! Please check it out.

Thanks

J.

I think Marcus would be a great fit to record with CandyRat Records. He'd be great to see paired with Don Ross. Great guitar, Joel!

The kid has promise.
I would say that right now we are in the midst of a golden age of fingerstyle.

Pretty knockout, player and guitar.

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

You are right. He is awesome! Also - the guitar is awesome too! It sounds fantastic. very responsive... I love the cutaway design. And the pickguards appear to be perfect for his playing style, with protection above and below, right where he taps for percussion. Did you design it for him?

That's some kind of style all on it's own. I can see that the guitar was designed to fit the style too and it's really well executed design. Good player, good guitar, perfect match.

Had to watch it twice. First time i thought there was an accompanying track, Second time I realized that i was watching a very talented guitarist.
Wow. Both the guitar-(beautiful), and the player are amazing. Thank you for sharing this. Could you tell us how you captured the audio. Is there a pickup in the guitar, or by external mic?

I guess that's the difference between fingerstyle and fingerpicking.
Personally, I'd prefer having a fraction of Big Bill's talent...
