Right now I'm using Canada post, seems to beat ups and fedex about 35%. Does anyone know how much you can save by getting an account with one of the parcel services, or if there's a better way like freight forwarding services? Any ideas at all?

Thanks...

Go over the border and ship from there....... ;)

I know, time is money so there is the trade off.

You still need to get them into the US.

Seems like it shouldn't be 85.00 for guitar with no case to Seattle, a three hour drive.

Last year we hired a broker and got a truck transport license. With 10 guitars, the combined cost of brokerage and gas still had it at 60$ a guitar. Just seems like shipping 4-6 or so into the US a month, there should be a cheaper way. The same trip was 35$ for Larrivee..

I have yet to find a cheaper way than with Canada post. Usually costing $80-$90is depending on where in the US it is going.

You think Larrivee was able to get around customs issues because they have a US factory......some how?

No.

Bulk bulk bulk.

I'm sure I'd get a better rate shipping 12 a day, but I'm not into that right now.

There is no customs, aside from brokerage fees, which will vary per broker, but most likely be very competitive, with ups and fedex being the worst, for some reason, despite them being the largest volume carriers.

Acoustic guitars made in NA, sans China made electronics, are duty free under NAFTA.

It just seemed odd to pay 80$ to send a guitar to Seattle, a 3hr drive...
