Hello friends.
sorry to trouble u again.
in india grain alcohol is not available due to rules.
so i have to buy premixed liqued with chandrus ( dont know english name ).
but i convinced the guy to give me unmixed liquid. he gave me a liquid which is not no clear like grain alochol.
i asked him the name and he said it is called ODS
does any one know this liquid and can it be used for dissolving shellac?
waiting for ur replies.

I am not familiar with ODS. Can you purchase denatured alcohol? It can be found in hardware stores (etc.) and used in place of spirited or grain alcohol.

I use 99.9% isopropyl alcohol, as grain alcohol isn't available here either...

I don't actually know, but the DS in ODS is probably for Denatured Spirits. It's reasonable to assume that this guy knows what he's doing and gave you the right stuff. I've heard of denatured ethanol (AKA 'spirits') being dyed a color so people know it's poisonous and don't drink it. It it likely ethanol denatured with methanol, or perhaps pure methanol. Either one will work. Don't drink it, and wear rubber gloves.
