I'm installing the truss rod and I'm finding the rod drops in nicely in the bolted on neck and the adjusting nut clears the top and every thing works well. I routed the slot in the neck deep enough to allow for a filler strip on an Allied rod. My question: Is the rod extension slot on the top always necessary? The video i'm watching calls for the slot. I'm thinking I'm good to go but would like a second opinion so I don't booger-up things at this late stage. "I had a friend who that happened once too".
