Here is a video of the High School Division winner at the Southern Classical Guitar Festival and Competition in Columbia SC a few weekends ago. I donated my 12th guitar as a prize for that division. He's not playing it, but he is holding it. http://fretbuzz.org/2014/06/jeremy-waldrip-video-interview/

Very Cool Waddy,
It is really great that you do work and donate it to causes like this. I do similar things but I find old guitars that need repair and give them away to people who are less fortunate than I am.

Charity and deeds of kindness is what makes this world a better place.

Cheers,
Bob

Nice! It's great to give stuff away especially to those in need and who appreciate it.

He obviously loves the new instrument and is enjoying it.

I really like the idea to donate for the sake of a completion or charity for that matter. Well done and a proud moment it is!

That must be a moment to be proud of, Waddy. In fact you just gave me an idea: if nothing goes too wrong with it, i think i´m gonna donate my forthcoming build to some local student. If he wants it, of course - it can be well below his/her standards... :o

I must say i got curious about the guitar, is it in your photo bucket? i couldn´t find it there, but i´m famous for not finding my own nose...

all the best,
Miguel.

edit: never mind, found it. wonderful guitar!

It's in there now. I think I put it in last week, finally. I finished that guitar in 2012. Happens to be one of my better guitars. I'm waiting for some recordings from Jeremy now.

Thanks for the Kudos, but Marina Alexandra, who runs the competition asked me if I would do that, and I took several down for her to select from. This was definitely the best of the lot. I thought it might be a way to get one live on the competition circuit for people to see and hear. Fortunately, this one is one of my most powerful instruments.

Great going Waddy!! I've had a similar thought for one of my guitars. I'll have to
get serious and look around my area for how to select an appropriate student.

Sweet Waddy, nice thing to do. Really, let's face it, artistry and craftsmanship have a long history of generosity for many reasons. But mostly, it makes you feel good, and you did a little part to make the world better IMO. Thank you.

Tim
