He will surely be missed. One of the greatest blues/slide players ever.

Darn. I hadn't heard. I'm surprised but then I was always a little surprised whenever I heard he was still alive. He was a definite influence on my playing. I only saw him once about 35 years ago. Great show!

I heard on my Facebook this morning. Billy Earhart, the keyboardist for the Amazing Rhythm Aces. ( Third rate romance low rent rendezvous) he posted it this morning as he knows just about all the old and newer artists as he plays gigs with them plus records with them. Pieanner players as he calls it are never at a loss for work if they're any good. And he is one of the best. He gives everybody's birthdays as well. So that's how I heard.

Definitely one of my fave players .. saw him 4 or 5 times, as far back as 76 on the Captured Live tour, and as recently as 3 or 4 years ago .. if you never had the chance to see him in a club, well, you missed something .. 4-10 musicman amp cranked, all tone controls on zero except treble on 10, and a boss chorus, swooshing inbetween tunes thru the PA !!! .... we're talking rip your head off rockin blues.

I think I need to go listen to Hwy 61 from Captured Live '76 .... if you have never heard it, THATS a slide guitar solo .... I was 15, Sudbury Arena, we pushed our way to lean on the stage, right in front of Randy Hobbs ...
