Has anyone here tried using nasal filters instead of a respirator? I'm thinking of something like these:

These are supposed to be effective down to around 1 micron and I think they might be more comfortable (and I'd be therefore more likely to use them) than a respirator. If anyone has any experience with them, I'd be interested in your opinion.

Never heard of those before. I do know that my filter is not such a bother to me, except when I need a sip of coffee. Get a good one, and they work fine. One thing I would caution about for these if it were me, is they won't work if you breathe through your mouth, which I am prone to do throughout the day. Stirring dust lifting heavy stacks of wood to go through the pile comes to mind. Or, if you want to pull a Michael Jordan and stick your tongue out during a delicate operation, like cutting pearl or inlay channels.

Kind of a good idea but the surface area of the filtering medium is likely too small to last more than a few minutes in a dusty shop. Plus as you exhale they will get wet in a few minutes adding flow resistance. Maybe they are designed for nighttime use but not for work.

Uhhh.... no. You want a large area of filter for luthiery tasks. Otherwise, they'll clog up in a New York minute.
