I just finished binding this OM
for no. 2 Son. 0ne more Son, one Daughter, and so far, 6 Grandchildren to go.
And to think, the only reason I went into this was because I needed a guitar, I still don't have one.

Just finished building my binding channel jig and I will be finally binding my parlor over the weekend. Now I just have to figure out what binding and perflings I am going to use.

If anyone is curious I built the jig out of 1/2" Sintra, it is expanded PVC sheet and is put together with it CA glue. It makes pretty strong jigs and fixtures but is easy to work.

Got the assembled rims/linings (top -laminated, back - reverse kerfed) for an Antes Parlor radius sanded.
Still to brace and fit the back and top.
Spend a few hours stripping, checking and setting up my 150mm cross vice (probably the best lb for buck tool I've ever bought, that sucker is heavy!) to make a slot head and classical (with threaded inserts) tuner hole drilling jig.
Also received some alu angle I was waiting on to finish a sliding table for my bandsaw to cut back angles as required on headstocks - I had to beat that into shape, having arrived at about 86 degrees instead of 90!
Oh - and burned a Valentine Days dinner for me and the missus..............

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

Na.... Bandsaw. This stuff is really easy to work with, it is expanded PVC and it cuts like butter. The outside is smooth and shiny the inside is sort of foamed but it is dense. You can sand it just like wood and get a smooth slick surface. CA glue works best on it and makes a strong joint. You will break the board before you break the joint.

Maybe I will post it in the Fixture section.

I may peak in the door for the first time in two months to see if it's all still there.

This weekend my son finished his first build. It has been a long but rewarding experience teaching him and I hope in years to come he remembers it as fondly as I do now.

Leveling frets on a new Tele build.
Almost as fun as finishing or watching paint dry.

Kent,
What species are the two bird's-eye planks?
It looks very similar to a piece of Elm I found down here.

I'll be spending a bit more time playing the latest guitar . . . trying to convince myself that I can part with it. If I write a song on it maybe I'll feel as though it's served me a little.

I'll also be tidying up the shop so I can get started on the next one.

Numbers 6 and 7 need bridges, and recent thread makes me want to play with Chladni modes again, and maybe time to do a frequency spectrum. May have to wait for wife to go shopping - she doesn't like my tone generator, and I need the dining room table for that set up; no room left on the pool table. Weekends seem to go too fast, but maybe I'll get one bridge on today, and check out the modes tomorrow.

Trying to make some progress on an electric build.

Radiused & slotted a couple of fingerboards, EIR & ABW. Getting ready to inlay some dots. Not too exciting.

Sorry about the funky white balance, fluorescent lighting.

Some great looking stuff happening. This weekend I am giving my shop a break and helping my son get my three grandsons to their hockey games. Six of them over the next two days. It's great to see them.

The wood in the picture is not the birds eye. It's white oak with bark inclusions all the way threw it. I'm going to make a Tele body with it. I didn't get a picture of the maple I bought yet.
