Any St Louis area folks going to the Hibdon sale on Friday/Saturday?
I scored some nice stuff last year.

I can't resist it even though I haven't gotten a chance to use any of the stuff I scored last year. Joe Mendel from our group told me he was likely heading over there Friday morning (I think around 8:30). I figure I will shoot for around the same time. It is my only shopping stop this weekend and might as well do it before we do the tree in the afternoon.

When are you going?

I went friday last year...but the guitar woods weren't on sale til saturday. Mostly they had random back plates and sides for 25cents each and lots of other hardwood off cuts. I picked through the pile and put together a couple mahogany sets that matched pretty well. Its also great stuff for ukuleles, bridge blanks, necks, etc. Its so nice to build an all mahogany uke for about a buck!
I also scored some nice spanish cedar neck blanks, I think they were $1.50. Some ziricote for bridge blanks, overlays, etc
If I had more re-saw capability I could have found a lot more.

I don't know Filippo, they didn't have anything on there site last year either. Send them a pm or email through the site. It could be that it is just not posted but deals are available.

It would be really sweet if they did something online for those of us too far to make it.

Hey Bryan,

When you're there can you check to see if they have a nice piece of quarter sawn sycamore for a one piece neck? 3" x 4" x 30". Having a tough time sourcing one locally and you guys seem to have quite a bit of that lumber down that way.
I'll shoot you a pm with my info.

Steve

They didn't really have the guitar wood on sale today. I think they said they were doing that next weekend because they didn't feel like they could provide good enough service up in the guitar wood section with everything going on down stairs. There was still plenty of stuff for me to look at. I am not currently in the market for lumber so I was able to skip all that and focus on the off cut sections. I got some various rosewood peices that will make bridges and a lot of bindings for &1.50 per pound. They has African blackwood and Macassar ebony for $2.50 per pound and I got some fretboards and bridges plus some ABW chunks to play with. I also got some nice curly mahogany sawn veneers. All told I spent $20.03, not too bad. I was running low on time and it was pretty crowded, I may go back tomorrow and spend a bit more time picking out more.

When are the scientists going to get moving on a teleporter so the rest of us can join in?
