Folks I am pleased to announce a new OLF Sponsor Exotic Lutherie Woods http://www.exotic-lutherie-woods.com/! You probably already know James Ringelspaugh as a long standing member of our community. James has moved into the tonewood biz. I am thrilled that he chose our community to support!
Please take a moment to welcome him aboard! [:Y:]

Here are a few words from James,

My website is http://www.exotic-lutherie-woods.com/ and I am selling exotic tonewoods for acoustic and electric guitars. I'm trying to specialize in various rosewoods and ebonies but have a pretty good mix of other woods mainly from Central/South America and Africa.

On the personal side I've been building and doing repairs since 2005 and have over 60 builds completed. I've been selling guitars and wood through my company Shabby Chic Guitars for the past few years and the increasing volume of wood being sold has prompted me to spin off that part of the business into this new online store. Hopefully I can provide the folks here some nice wood and make it a success!

Here is a sample of what you will find on Exotic Lutherie Woods site.
You will find a link to Exotic Lutherie Woods site in the links section above.

Great to hear James! I like the appointment sets. Great idea. It might be time to gum up the sander on some Coco.

I think I bought an outrageous Coco set from you (Shabby Chic) on ebay. Nice looking woods at reasonable prices. Guess I won't have any walkin' around money for a while.

Thanks for the warm welcome! I feel like I've been leading a double life building/repairing and selling wood for a while now... I enjoy both quite a bit and each job has certainly informed the other, but a while ago I decided that going back to lutherie as an amateur was the best choice for me. To that end I've been working hard to build solid relationships with some wood brokers and importers, and that has really paid off in the form of a reliable supply of some really great woods. So far this has been one of the best jobs I've had and I hope it can continue... I've learned quite a bit from this forum over the years and it's a pleasure to be able to give something back by offering some useful woods to the members here.

At the same time I'm really looking forward to exploring some new lutherie avenues on my own terms that just weren't open to me before... I've been mulling over making a harp guitar and a romantic guitar for a while but could never seem to find the time for them when I needed my builds to pay the mortgage. I am loving the prospect of using leisure time to enjoy the journey of those types of projects without a customer looking over my shoulder. Anyway thanks again for the welcome and please feel free to contact me with any questions, comments, or requests for something unique, especially odd sized pieces... what's listed on the site is just a small fraction of my stash so if you need something special I may very well be able to make it happen. Cheers,

-James

I have added some nice vertical grain Macassar ebony boards I though some might be interested in:

Also, for those who are willing to work with 4-piece backs I should have some really great spiderwebby vertical grain cocobolo back and side sets from this wood up very soon:

Glad to see you as a sponsor here, James! Having bought a few things from you in the past, you definitely know your tonewoods [:Y:]

Let me know anytime you're cutting harp guitar sets and might have extras. I've got plenty to keep me busy for a few years, but always on the lookout for good deals and rare/unique stuff... for example, that coco pile wow7-eyes Doesn't get much better than that. If the slices are at least 5x35", I think I could get a harp guitar out of 6 of them.

Congrats James! Nice website. I'm really glad Zeke beat me to the ziricote!
Excellent idea on the "Appointment sets" I am kind of surprised other companies have not thought of it. We all try to match the appointments, now there is a supplier who is cutting them from the same boards! Brilliant! Best of luck to you in your new venture.

Ha, I can't take credit for coming up with 'appointment sets' but I definitely think they're a great idea. I believe I first saw someone here during a swapapalooza offer them up.
