Not sure if this is the right place within this forum to place this, but I have had the guitar making bug for quite a while now. I actually built my first guitar earlier this year and now want to do more. The problem is that I live in a condo that does not have any room for a proper shop setup so working here at home will be a difficult task indeed.

My first guitar build was with a class at our local Woodcraft store, so all the tools were there to use. I believe that my only hope is to see if anyone in the area may have a need for someone to be their apprentice so that I get experience and some more luthier knowledge while having access to tools within their shop. Maybe they will even allow me to build my own guitars while I help them with theirs.

I am not sure of any other way for me to get access to a shop with the proper tools that I will need to use in my pursuit of being a luthier myself. I have the bug and require as much knowledge (reading a whole lot on the craft) as possible, as well as hands-on experience.

Please help!!!!!

Thanks Filippo for the encouragement. I believe that I have made up my mind to do just that. Whatever I can do in my condo I will do just to make another guitar :).

If a dude got the bug in the heart, they gonna build.
Regardless of the gazzillion and one B.S. reasons that gets in the way.

I agree Padma and that is why I am going through with it no matter what I have at home. I will find a way to get it done.

You do have a pretty decent population of luthiers in the NOVA/DC/Baltimore area to lean on if you get in too much trouble.

Thank Todd :) I might be doing just that....

Ha ha Chris. I checked out your Website and love the guitars you have built. I have never played an electric to date, love the OMC style acoustic that you have on the site with the cutaway.I see that you have had the privilege to work under true craftsmen, both Todd Stock and David Myka. I find it really funny that I have ventured onto this forum wanting to also learn from the true craftsmen of the trade and run into you who has a connection to my current place of residence (DC) and the place that I really want to end up living (Seattle - my parents and brother's family live in New Castle currently). This could be just a coincidence by then I don't believe in them too much.

Your profile on the forum states you are in DC. What part of DC do you reside? I am right over the river in Crystal City and would love the chance to meet in person if only to discuss the craft and art of building guitars. I have just recently started thinking about archtops as well.

Thanks Chris and I will definately drop you my info in a PM. So you are up close to Todd as well. Makes sense now that you have worked closely with him. I wouldn't mind driving on up on an open weekend to check out the shop as well since I do know where Gaithersburg is located :)
