I have not been around lately, but maybe I can work on that and come back to bug people more often. I have been teaching a music class for goats, so you can imagine how busy I have been. Here is one of my students:

Glad to see you found the time to pop in Tony.
Real purdy student BTW, kind of reminds me of my first wife. I think it's the nose.....

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

I'm so glad I popped in. You are all as funny, or funnier than I remember!
Yes, the headphones I use with the goats are Bleets by Dre. They listen to lots of Baaaaaach. Its their favorite!

I had a disastrous build season last winter. I do not RH control my shop. I build when RH is low during the winter in the northeast. It has worked well for four years. Last winter, Mother nature was not kind. RH and temps were all over the map and as a result, I wound up with three joined, and braced tops that looked like pringles. After the third failure, I decided to quit while I was not ridiculously far behind and stopped building for the year. I also was a bit disgusted with building as a result of all of my wasted time, so I really was not sure what I would do with all of my primo Brazilian, LS redwood, Lutz, "The Tree". etc. For a while, I sat around crying into my beer, sans tears. Then, I picked myself up, and got back in the race because Frank Sinatra spoke to me and told me to do so. Soon after, I realized I did not own any LS redwood, or "The Tree" sets, and I decided to build the guitars I was supposed to build and deliver this past summer. So, here I am. Ready to start building again and fulfill the orders I did not fill this summer. I am lucky that I had some really cool, and understanding customers. Also, I am lucky that the two people I was building for are also old friends, so that really worked out in my favor or I could be in deep doodoo.
Its good to be back motivated to build and surrounded by people looking to do the same.
Pics will be coming as I get back in the shop.
