Thinking of getting one of these for various tasks around the shop as opposed to the StewMac ShopStand.
Has anyone used one of these that can comment on the stability? I'm thinking repair, setups, holding a rig for spraying etc.

What you are picturing is a JawStand, which I have never used. I have a JawHorse and it is a great tool and very stable. It lends itself to holding lots of fixtures and it being portable is a real plus. I use it to hold my buffing assembly, my guitar clamp for binding, and the tooling for cutting the tenon on the neck. I set it up outside and just let the dust and shavings go where they will.

I have a Jaw Horse that I use a lot--mostly for holding a chop saw or for acting as a second set of hands when doing carpentry chores. I've used it to hold one end of a wall in place while I'm working solo at the other end of the wall and things like that. Very stable unit, even for fairly heavy work and I like mine a lot.

Yes, I meant the JawStand, not the JawHorse. Sorry. I'm wanting something that is adjustable in height.

I bought the JawHorse, and have to sat, it is very solid and stable. The only thing I don't like is the minimal clamping part of what they make you think is a built-in vice. It's not. But it does a surprisingly good job of clamping even so. I plan to modify it slightly....
