I have a little area in my bindings where they are not tight to the back. It is completely filled and solid with CA, but I can see a little void between the binding and the body (looking through solid CA). A fine tip sharpie colors it in perfectly on the surface, but as I turn it in the light, I can see it's a different shade of black. Looking straight on it's a perfect match.

Question is: once under lacquer, will the difference in light reflectance go away, and it will be indistinguishable from the other black, or ? Also, will vinyl sealer make the black sharpie run?

If you use a real Sharpie (as in the brand name) under nitro you will get a great example of chromatography. If you use something like an Artline 200 fine line pen (which I think is water based), you'll get much better results, but whether that's good enough for you is another question.

Different brands fade differently over time, but the Artline 200 seems pretty stable. I don't use vinyl sealer, so I can't answer that one for you.

Behlens graining pens work very well under nitro. B272-005 is the black one. I have also used a fine line sharpie brand sharpie in the past and it worked.
