Messing around with photos and found this one. Bungee cable on the end of top slat in the side bender. There is one on the other end also. I like this better then the springs and blocks. Anyone do this.......??

Yup. That's what I use. The bulk coil fabric coated stuff with cable clamps. Not pretty but works fine and you can adjust the tension to whatever you like.

Todd: Didn't realize that, I wonder why the shift to the springs and blocks...? I find this woks much better for me. To each his own, as they say.

Tom, Here's a similar mod on the side bender that I use some times. I can easily go to springs and sliding block, which seems to give me a little more feel when the wood is ready to bend.
