anyone know why after about 6 months of playing the neck and where ur arm draps over and where the guitar sits on your knee the laquer has become pitted and fuzzy. Im not an acidic kind of guy as this problem has never reared its head before.
i used zpoxy, vinyl sealer and laquer
same thing happened on a different guitar neck when I used zpoxy and tru oil
I'm thinking it may be the zpoxy? but they were 2 different batches
Any help would be much apreciated.

the finish appears to be lifted over top of the pores

I don't know what caused it but I am interested. I am, (maybe it should be was) planning to use zpoxy, vinyl sealer and cardinal lacquer on my next build

Had the same thing with zpoxy and french polished shellac. noticed it when going from dry climate to humid one,although may be unrelated. steel wool rub down took care of it, but had to repeat a few times, a few months apart

is the only way to correct it to sand back to bare wood?

Definitely looks like a pore fill problem, so yes most likely will need to go back to bare wood.
