Chuck Erickson, one of the largest shell inlay suppliers around, stopped by my shop this week with his product developer, Tom Schotland. They have been working on a new group of inlay materials for the last five years and had some proto types to show. With high quality shells getting harder to find, and increasing legal restrictions for their use, Chuck and Tom are ahead of the curve and are generating an AMAZING new type of non wildlife,{mother of pearl, abalone} inlay material. Here are some of the pictures I took .

One of several new synthetic {non wildlife} inlay materials under development: an iridescent dichroic membrane that has been treated to bring out a broad spectrum of colors.

Where might I get in contact with them? I would love to have someone throw my name in the hat as someone interested in being a pilot user. I'd even be willing to do up some samples to use a promotional materials. I could EASILY do up a board or two with my 'standards' that I'd know I'd use eventually. Like my Marlin inlay or something.
Very curious!

Chuck is "the duke" isn't he??? (Duke of Pearl)
