Hey guys,
I posted earlier about a chestnut oak tree coming down. After splitting it, the inside has many different shades of browns(see pic) Does anyone know if this will stay in the wood after it dries? There are no signs of bugs, it's just the color. I like it and was hoping it would stay in. Please help this clueless newbie:) Thanks

Sean

Yes, it should stay and with finish be possibly a tad darker.

Chestnut oak tends to be a deeper brown than White or Red, usually very pretty. it may get a bit lighter than you see now when dried but it will stay brown.

Cool! This is a good forum, huh? Lot's of good advice. You make nice looking guitars, especially like your rosettes.

Yeah, I like it here. And thanks! I like them too. I can't wait to make the one out of the piece of ebony I got.

When it dries it will be lighter, but when you put finish on it, it will get darker.

Oh boy,

That colour in the wood ain't got no place to go!

What?... you think the Nothingness of the What gonna magically suck the colour right outa that wood, make it invisible, hide it under yer table saw or sumpthin...Me don't think so.

Ya, it may fade and or it may get darker...time will tell...but I, me, the Padma assure you that colour ain't going no were ...it gonna stay right in that wood. Guaranteed. laughing6-hehe
