I finally got some pictures of the completed 12 fret 00 that was shown in viewtopic.php?f=10101&t=38584

Here is a short video clip of my buddy Bob playing it. We recorded it in my shop on the day after it was strung up with my Ipod touch. The sound quality is not spectacular but gives an idea of how it is.

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.
