I remember some one saying they would sell a kidney for a B&S set. Here you go!

At that price, you would have to.

If I sold a kidney, I'd be up four times a night instead of twice! I'm going to hang on to them in case something really good comes along!

thanks for the heads-up! i guess it was me with the kidney thing, but in the meantime i´ve grown attached to it... :)

i also wonder if it can be shipped worldwide, at least gilmer doesn´t do it. but if it doesn´t go up too much it can be seen as a good investment.

At that price, you would have to.

Given how difficult it is to find, $1500 for 6 sets doesn't seem outrageous at all.

Indeed, I've been debating whether to bid on those :) I have one similar looking flatsawn OM set that was $225 from RC a couple years ago, so $250 for dread sets seems quite fair. I really only want #5 though (the one with the dark streaks), and maybe one more... if anyone wants to bid and split it up, I'll throw in $300 for that one.

Can't really see the big deal with it. Pretty bland looking wood if you ask me (I have a few Bows made with it). If you called it African Bahuna wood no one would give $20 for it. Ah, that rarity factor.

Apparently pernambuco is gold to bow makers, but in any case, Miguel, I think you should keep the kidney.

Looks more like chakte viga to me, which is a related species to the Brazilian pernambuco. I always get a kick when people refer to chakte viga as "Mexican pernambuco". Pernambuco is a state in Brazil. Mexican pernambuco is like "East Indian Brazilian rosewood".

I have quite a few sets of East Indian Brazilian Rosewood. I also have some Sapele Brazilian rosewoo, some North American black walnut Brazilian rosewood, and some Honduran mahogany Brazilian Rosewood. I would be willing to part with some sets for the right price. But be advised, the longer the name, the more expensive it becomes.

 Perhaps I should refrain from buying any then. I'd hoped the bow makers were paying more for the top quality stuff, and then we'd fight it out over the leftovers that didn't make the cut. But if $250-300 a set is already more than bow makers will pay, that encourages cutting up more bow logs into guitar sets, and that's just a waste since there are so many good alternatives for guitars, but not for bows.

But it is about as good as it gets tap-tone wise, so guitars are the next best use for it after bows, IMO. And I love the color of it.

The sets in this listing are the real deal, not Chatke Viga. I have nothing to do with the listing nor any interest in purchasing the sets, but they are definitely Pernambuco(Caesalpinia echinata).
