Does bloodwood and/or padauk work okay for a fingerboard and bridge in terms of stability, workability, glue ability, etc.?

...how about esthetically? …too garish? Iv'e seen cocobolo look nice...

bloodwood is an excellent wood for fingerboard. It's very hard wood. Esthetically, If you oil it it's garnet or dark-red... at least, in a few weeks :)

I think I read somewhere that Greg Smallman has used padauk for classical bridges, to keep the weight down.

Yes to both woods in both applications.

Padauk makes a good bridge. Fairly light for it's stiffness. Might be a little prone to cracking, depending on the grain.

I used bloodwood for a bridge and fingerboard as requested on a commission build and it worked out great.
