I've done numerous searches on the forum and rarely find the topic I'm looking for. And if there are two words, forget about it. I was just doing a search for 'nut files' and got 52 pages with the first 5 not finding any mention of 'nut' just 'files.

The search tips are pretty clear "Place + in front of a word which must be found"... but +nut+files returns the exact same topics as 'nut files'. What am I missing?

Search for "nut files". (Between quotes).

Are you kidding me? Alain please don't let my astonishment lessen my gratitude for your tip but really? Does everyone but me know this? I've been struggling for MONTHS trying to get decent search results with not even a HINT of this method for searching. And why the tip with the + sign? Wow.[/rant]

Thank you very much Alain.

Let me add my thanks, as well, Alain! This will help me from pulling out what little hair I have left!

How about when you're searching for something like "oak" and you get no results?

Terms like "0", "00" and "000" don't work either, for the same reason. I understand why it's that way and most forums have the same limitation, but it's frustrating nonetheless.

That surprises me. Well at least you can put some quotes now and search for "oak blah blah"

Got results for "oak back" and "white oak" so could be worse.

From what I recall, 3 letters (any three) won't work... has to be more than 3 letters.
I seem to remember having luck with adding an asterix
...yep, just tried it..... oak* yields 201 results!

I don't remember google search symbols (like quotes and plus signs) working here. Has that changed or is it just me.

Eureka! Maybe it's worth changing the unhelpful and apparently incorrect instructions supplied for the "search" function, if that's possible.
