So I had some unfilled pores (soundhole binding) that got some wet-sanding sludge in them. Is there anything that can dissolve this, or any other trick I can use? Or am I stuck with picking it out with a needle?

Try a toothbrush and naphtha.

If you are totally done with your finish and just want to make the white stuff disappear you can rub some oil (linseed, walnut, etc) in with your fingers and that should do the trick.

to kick the toothbrush idea up a notch, you could maybe find an old ultrasonic toothbrush and try that. the bristles are finer on them too

I had the same problem with bright white sludge in a dark Mad Rose guitar.

I just tried using Walnut oil as suggested and it has worked like an absolute dream.

Thanks [:Y:]

Thanks for all the tips. I haven't had much time in the shop lately, but maybe I will soon. I will report back when I get this one solved.

Wow, this worked so well it was kinda stupid. I used a soft regular bristled toothbrush and some linseed oil and gently worked it into the pores. It cleaned out all the sludge instantly. This one is definitely going in my "book of tricks".

Sweet! Glad to hear it worked, I'll have to write that one down.
