Hello friends
im building now a F-hole cut guitar but it will be used to play indian classical music

its tuning is 1-B , 2-G, 3-D. 4-A , 5-E and 6-B ( tuned to 1st string)

getting confused whether i should go for heavy neck like african mahogany or lighter one
so that i can good sustain and well as tone.
can anyone recommend me the wood for this string tension
what will be its string tension?

Greetings Rahoul,

We need to know the string gauges and scale length to calculate the string tension.

Steve

The B to b tuning suggests that you are looking to build a baritone guitar. You'll need a scale length around 700mm and either light (.013 to .062) or medium (.014 to .068) baritone strings. The tension on the neck remains consistant with what would be seen on a standard guitar.

I think chosing a denser wood spieces than usual, like African Mahogany, would be helpful in increasing sustain. Stiffness and voicing of the top and the quality of your workmanship overall are going to more important in achieving your goals.
