A year ago a whole bunch of us in the NEL group started a project to (re)invigorate our group where we all would build our (close) approximation of an OM. 30 of us started the project together in a cramped living room in East Boston and this Sunday will be one part of the culmination with a concert at Harvard Square's Club Passim where our instruments will be played by some great local players in a concert appropriately titled "meet your maker":

As part of the hype for the show some members were able to get us a spot on a great local NPR show, radio Boston. We taped earlier this week and they aired it yesterday. I thought it came out great and represented our group well (and you can hear a few OLF members on air!):

The project has been a great success, some of our computer savvy members set up a forum for us and we could, as a private group, share all the details of what we were doing with each other as we progressed. We had meetings every other month and incorporated listening sessions into each one where the host would find a talented player and we would supply different OM based guitars for them to play and compare. Those were some of the most informative meetings we have had in the 4+ years I have been a member, being able to listen firsthand and immediately discuss the differences I think was eye opening for all of us. Out of the 30 beginning members I think we will have between 12-15 finished guitars at the show with a few more scheduled to be completed in the coming months(s). It has been an inspiring and affirming experience to take part in this project, we were able to bring some members who for life/distance reasons can't always come to meetings back into the group and it has benefited all of us greatly. We also were able to make contact with some amazing local musicians and that too is something that can only be a positive thing for the group.

I wanted to share this here as a recognition from one guitar community to another. There is a lot of overlap in our group and membership here on the OLF and I wanted to share the good experience we had with the larger group here.

Thanks!

Oh, it's pronounced "Le-Jet".

Very cool. Thanks for posting.

You guys rock. That's a very impressive project, and with exposure on NPR, to boot. Great stuff.
