Having bent the sides for two guitars with Indian RW I would like to try a different thing in my next guitars. One will be cypress, on another I would like a different RW. What would you guys suggest as a not too-difficult Wood ? I can choose from coco, Honduran, Madagascar, amazon and Guatemalan rosewoods.

Thanks in advance!

Sent from another of Tony in NYC's kitchen appliances.

Quartersawn cocobolo is a dream to bend. At least the Nicaraguan stuff that I have is.

Compared to Indian, Madagascar is harder to bend, and Amazon even harder, at least on the pipe. Watch the density, the heavy ones need to be taken thinner. On the Amazon I bent, the waist didn't work until I sanded it to some 1.6mm.

Rosewoods tend toward the easier end of the scale in terms of bending. As long as it is straight grained and not highly figured with runout. Then again I have not tried all of them.

thanks for the replies! to be honest i´m a bit afraid of using cocobolo, so i guess that leaves me with tucurensis (i just love the looks of it anyway), although it´s not completely quartersawn. my madagascar goes from rift to flat mostly, so i guess i´ll save it for later.

thanks!
