Where can I get my hands on binding tape in europe? Shipping and taxes from US are outrageous.

Filament tape

Does this peel off clean like masking tape or leave a residue/mess ? ! Seems way better than tripled up MT.

Todd mentioned strapping tape. This is what I use now. As for stew macs binding tape I don't think there is nothing that amazing about it that I would order it from across the world. The green painters tape they sell at home centers is as strong and tacky and release well....Mike
I just want to add that using a hair dryer when removing tape makes for easier removal and less chance of pulling fibers.

I just use an auto masking tape. The stuff I can get hold of locally has a little stretch to it, which is the feature that I like. Some masking tapes seem to have very little or no stretch. Same reason why I dislike the LMI brown tape for binding use.

This is the original, unbreakable, no-stretch, lasts-almost-forever, gap-busting European tape! And it's only 2$ Eat Drink :D

I wanted to use rope from my first guitar but couldn't easily find hemp either until a year ago at a hardware store. Before I struggled with tape; it is a PITA with sticky fish glue... But rope has some ugly parts as well. If you wrap around like I do you'd need a second person to help you bring it around at least in the second part. Alone is a bit unnerving when you are in a hide glue hurry . I guess best is to have a workboard with pegs but I found calling out my old man to help easier :) The second part is that after use you need to clean the glue residue carefully (rip it or wash it) otherwise it will prick the wood badly on the second use. I could wax it but I don't want wax on my fingers and then on the purfling when maneuvering it....

There is also some good diameter nylon cord around which shouldn't love glue so much but I'm not sure it works as nicely as hemp.

The first roll lasted me for 4 guitars until it went too thin and unraveling.

I'll send you a roll if you want.

I think the Stewmac tape is what the industry calls flatback tape. My paint store (a real paint store, not the big box store) sells it as masking tape for concrete because of it's thick & strong adhesive.
