I posted a serious thread today thanking Andy Birko for his help with my bridges, so I need to balance it out and post something ridiculous. Thus it is with much embarrassment that I post the following impression of Neil Young for you all to laugh at. There is nothing good about this video. The singing impression is awful, my playing is abysmal and I have no excuse for the shirt other than I was going to be working in the yard after I finished the video. Lets not even start on my double chin, OK? I look pretty good for my age and I'm working on it!! So without further ado, here is my humorous post for today...and the rest of eternity:

Nice Job Tony! That wasn't bad at all, the guitar sounds great and you even sound a little like ole' Neil himself~ The only thing I laughed at was the Elvis impersonation at the end! Good stuff!

The Elvis impersonation was not intentional, but it is the only way to say "thank you" after singing IMHO.
Thanks Jeff!

Alan,
I don't want you to feel left out, so here is a link to the video. The singing alone is worth the effort to get there!
Here you go:

Enjoy!

Its a good children's song for sure! laughing6-hehe

I spent the better part of 10 minutes trying to learn all of the embellishments on the C chord before my 7 takes to get this monstrosity. One of these days I need to learn how to play these things!!

Theres nothing wrong with your singing, Tony, and the guitar sounds very nice! [clap] My voice, on the other hand is kind of like Leo Kottke wearing tight underwear. Not a pretty picture.

Not bad at all old chap. I don't even make attempts at singing never mind recording myself for the world to hear. And I dig the fretboard on that guitar too.

Here's the thing...I can't really play worth a dang, so if I make it funny by doing a little impression of Neil Young, it takes a bit of the focus off of my playing skills or lack thereof. Leo Kottke in tight underwear? That's a heck of a visual. I imagine he would make a face like this if his tighty whities were a bit too tight. :
Image

Tight underwear also reminds me of a poem by the great 20th century poet, Judge Elihu Smails(played by the late Ted Knight).

It's easy to grin
when your ship has come in
and you've got the stock market beat.
But the man who's worth while
is the man who can smile
when his pants are too tight in the seat!!

That album came out when I was 12 years old....I started playing guitar that year. I was probably more motivated by that album than anything else.

Neil Young probably appreciates any cover of his songs....although I expect a lot of songwriters and performers get more nervous and less appreciative the better their song gets covered. :) Who wants to think someone sings their song better than them?

I have nothing to be embarrassed about Steve! There are plenty of people who build guitars and never post a single pic. One might begin to think they have something to hide. Me? I have limited picking skills and a halfway decent voice when not doing Neil Young impressions. My guitars look alright though, and sound pretty good so I think I'm doing OK! Plus, I am very much alive, have no major health issues, and two cool kids. I think I can post a goofy video from time to time and still keep the trivial amount of respect I have around here, no?? laughing6-hehe

I loved it! You DO have a way better voice than NY.....and playing it on a guitar that YOU made?......Priceless. Thanks for sharing, Tony.
