This is build #2 for me.... It's a 12 fret parlor with a 24.375" scale length. I had originally planned on doing a mortise/tenon neck joint using barrel bolts as you can see I've laid out on the neck. This would appear to work with the Allied 12 fret truss rod. However, I've considered switching to a Mottola et. al. style butt joint neck with anchors in the heel. For that arrangement, it appears that the truss rod would protrude too far out the heel of the neck to be solidly anchored. Thoughts? Workarounds?

Thanks all!

Stick with orig plan . I find that when I change ideas in the middle , I generally create headaches that I didnt see comming .

cut slots in the body for the rod, and the fingerboard extension should hide it.

LMI sells a 12-fret rod that is just a bit shorter than Allied's. I ran into a similar situation with a short scale 12-fret 00. The length of the LMI rod was perfect.

I needed a short truss rod, and had a 14-fret Martin 2-way sitting around. Cutting it down was pretty easy.

Pat

edit:

Perhaps not so with the Allied rod.
