Edit: that came across more snippy than I intended. If you were to do a more standard shape like an LP or something, you'd have no problem recouping your cost or even profiting by selling it in the classifieds.

Haha, no problem. And yes, exactly. LP's, PRS's---those are definitely high-interest, very appealing shapes.

Not sure it could be of use, but I just scored some Port Orford 1 1/2 x 5 with tight flat grain I have 25 linear feet of this. It is perfect for a 2 piece neck blank, that is what I bought it for, if this will be useful, I would chip in to learn something from Myka's shop. Can this work for the core? I will take some pics if you think you can use this material.

Here is the stock, the grains are pretty close to perfectly flat, with about 15 grains per inch on the edges, perfect for a neck, I don't think there is much creative resawing that can be done on these to make them useful for much else.

I have not scanned the stock at this place in a while, but there is almost nothing even rift enough to pretend to be quartered, and most is pretty knotty. I am hoping to spend a bit more time there this summer, so hopefully I can score something good. I am also hoping to get some of the old timer local guys to reveal some stashes at the event here in August.

So do you need fancy vacuum fixtures to veneer a carved top?
