Although not a small jumbo, I know Martin has done some OM 14 fret models with the 25.4" scale and a slotted head. Here's a link to a to a recent (last year) discussion over at UMGF about the subject. I love the look of a slotted head!

I built a 25.4" slot head dread a while back. It worked great. I've built slot head guitars in all different sizes with 12, 13 and 14 fret neck joints. I've been happy with all of them.

My latest guitar was built as a long-scale, 14 fret "grand concert" guitar with a slot head. Worked out fine.

Kudos, Josh.

If you can get one of your guitars into the hands of J P Cormier, you have attained a rarified staus.

J P is imo one of the top 5 in the world, both fingerstyle and flatpicking, the man is an absolute genius. Live, he is an absolute blast.

Not that it matters in the slightest, but slothead 14 fretters make me slightly uneasy, just like 12 fret paddle heads make me uneasy.

I can offer no logical justification for the prejudice, that's just the way it seems to me.

But hey, if J P likes them, then what the hell ...

I have a Running Dog Mini Jumbo....14 fret Slothead 25.4 scale. Have played it for years. I think it is a great configuration....design that works well.

I am debating whether to do a paddle headstock on a 12 fret 000 that will be built as a modern version with cutaway, sound port, arm rest bevel and probably with my normal bridge shape.

I have seen a couple 14 fret guitars with a slot head and they are cool looking, the Pat Donohue Martin is very nice and Josh's Dreadnought in the video also looks real good. I think anything goes if it is done well, there are no guitar headstock laws though I have seen shapes that should be banned.

It's such a pain in the but to change the strings on a slothead compared to a paddlehead. Not as bad as a classical.
If you don't mind changing classical strings, no problem.
