I bought a Stewart Mc Donald dovetail template and proceeded to make a jig as instructed.

One side of the template is a bit proud which I discovered was due to the fact that the perspex is up to .5 / .75 mm thicker on one side than it is on the other.

I have not emailed customer services yet, unusual to get perspex varying in thickness across such a small section, what do you think?

J

If it is not right, contact them and let them know. They will make it right.

Plus it will alert them to a potential issue with what they have in stock.

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.
