When finishing the neck with a different finish than the rest of the guitar, how is the side of the fretboard handled? This is for a classical, so the neck and fingerboard are already part of the guitar, not separate. If I finish the side of the fretboard with whatever I use on the neck, then do I continue that on the fretboard extension over the soundboard? Thanks, Wendy

I have never found a good reason to have any finish on the side of an ebony fretboard.

John - probably a dumb question but how do you accomplish that without having a "ridge" of finish where the neck wood and ebony fretboard meet? Thanks.
