Hello Forum,

Due to some delays, it has been about 5 months since I put on the last coats of EM6000, and need to put on some additional coats. Any thoughts on burn-in issues? Could I just give it a good wipe down w/ DA and go from there, or am I looking at sanding back and starting again?

I appreciate any opinions or experience on this.

I've never waited 5 months between coats but from what I gather, EM6000 has a 100% burn in regardless of time.
I would scuff sand all over with 800 grit then continue your spraying.

Wipe it lightly with ethyl alcohol and go ahead and spray the new coats. The alcohol will soften the surface and make sure it's clean. I've never had any problem with EM6000 burning into itself (but wait a couple of weeks before you sand across coat lines--burning in does take a while).

Of course not! It's highly repairable. But, scuff it good, and wipe with DNA. Use a very clean cloth. Failure to scuff will lead to witness lines. After DNA, I will go back and light scuff before spraying.

+1 on this. The docs on Targets site say burn in is not an issue at any time but to sand if more than 24 hours have passed. I also recommend to wipe down liberally with DNA. I have not gone months between coats but have gone weeks and followed this procedure and not had an issue. I am starting to suspect that Target retarder may cause some issues with burn-in but not sure yet.
