Looks great.

Regarding your comment:
Quote:
Well, I've been in a binding zen mode ever since Todd introduced me to fish glue so I figured now's as confident a time as any to tackle the job.

Is that just the benefit of the longer open time using fish glue or are there other benefits?

I've had the hardest time cleaning up fish glue squeeze out after doing some linings with it. When I wiped it, it just smeared. Those spots between the braces and linings are a PITA to get in and sand. Looking forward to doing binding though.

Hey Chris,

About what is the width of the radial purfling? I still can't believe how much it pops..

I like the color combo Chris. Good call on putting the bloodwood with the claro.

No money shot of those tight corners?

I really like that use of zebra wood. Thanks for the pics. [clap] Is that a jazz box?

Hmm. Zebrawood seems to be a popular one:

I have also used mahogany and am currently doing a parlor with cocobolo radial purfs. Fun stuff.

Nice job on the purfs Chris. I am seriously contemplating them on the claro box I have on my bench right now. Just seems like a lot of work since I have to cut the strips by hand as my table saw is

Whats the big block in the lower bout of the guitar for? Looks like more than just an access port. Care to explain or is that also Super Top Secret to be revealed at a later date?

Chris Ensor, nice job there. I never would have thought of doing that to a back but that looks really nice.

Tasty purfling. Has a nice, natural look to it.

I too have been riding the zebra wood bandwagon and getting this little tenor ready for the Montreal show this summer....

I am always amazed by the craftsmenship on this forum. All these radial purfs look great. Mike the back on that guitar is beautiful. I look forward to seeing the tut so I can start on some radial purfs of my own.

Just did bindings with fish glue. Yes, messy and tacky but cleans up great with a rag and warm water. A pale of hot/warm water to rinse the rag frequently works great, preventing the smearing and tackiness. People do it with HHG all the time. I even rubbed glue off with a "hot" water soaked rag the next day once it was dry. I first tried dry paper towel for the squeezeout -- yikes, what a mess. I would have been ready to give it up after that mess had I not switched to the wet/damp cloth.
