Hello, New Friends.

I am happy to finally join the OLF. Thanks to the many members' comments, advise, tutorials, pictures, and videos, I was able to recently complete my second guitar. I wanted to stay traditional and standard, so I modeled it off the HD-28. EIR back and sides, Sitka Spruce top, Mahogany neck and bindings, Ebony fretboard, bridge, and headplate.

Being a novice, I am still learning the basics (slowly), but I have my whole life to progress.

I hope to get to know all of you a little better.

Here are some pictures. My photographer skills are heavily burdened. I followed the Cumpiano/Natelson book pretty closely. I am giving this one to my father for Christmas. My siblings also pitched in for the electronics (Fishman Matrix Infinity) and a case. He plays guitar almost every week in church, and he currently plays an Ovation...

Awesome guitar and gift. I do see another Ovation biting the dust. Nice work and welcome to the forum.

In defense of Ovation, I do take mine on every canoe trip...

...never know when you'll need an extra paddle...

Oh, and welcome to the OLF, beautiful guitar!

Thanks for all the kind words. This guitar started as an unserviced kit from LMI in January. It's funny that lutherie consumes most of my time, but it took nearly a year to finish a guitar. I really don't mind working slowly, and I would be delighted if I could keep a pace of one guitar per year.

I was given a cheap Ovation copy (which is probably only a little worse than the real thing) that had a loose bridge... the string actually pulled the string off due to its pinless design (as well as bridge screws that are too close to the edge of the bridge, resulting in wood failure)

I will glue the bridge back on with epoxy and turn it into my shop sign...
